Shane Hurlbut is enthusiastic.

Because of the nature of most of the things that I cut I don’t normally get to share them. This is a piece I cut for Shane Hurlbut and Brian Valente from redrockmicro.com. Barry Anderson of Mogo Media shot it with a set of Leica glass. I think the piece looks great.
This, along with all the things I cut from the HDSLR Bootcamp were cut on Premiere Pro CS5.

Ben James learned Premiere Pro!

HDSLR Bootcamp - Team D - Chase Scene from Ben James on Vimeo.

So interesting how social media works. I don’t know Ben but he and I were both at Shane Hurlbut’s HDSLR Bootcamp back in August. I was working at it, he was attending. So we never met. Today Ben sends me a link to his video he cut from the student shot footage at Bootcamp. Ben cut it all in Premiere Pro and said the info on this site was really helpful.  Cool how all that works out isn’t it?

Great Job Ben!

Talking about X2PPro is fun.

So i wanted to fill you guys in on a few details about the presentation that I’m doing next week.  I’m really excited about it.

The Presso is Monday, November 15 · 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Pacific Time (Cupertino,CA) and you can find some details about it here.

First of all, to see the presso you want to go to this URL but you’ll need to have an Adobe ID. To be honest, I hadn’t used mine in YEARS, I had forgotten my username and passsword so make sure you get all that figured out ahead of time. There’s gonna be some fun stuff in the beginning that you won’t want to miss… seriously.

UPDATE: I THINK YOU CAN LOG IN AS A GUEST AND DON’T NEED AN Adobe ID

Second, I just want to say how cool Adobe has been about this. There is some stuff I want to talk about that I feel every Final Cut Pro user should know about and I contacted Adobe today to see if it was ok to bring up some history that could be considered a ‘wee bit controversial’ and basically they just said, “make sure everyone knows that what you are saying is your own words” and, to borrow a phrase heard all to often on TV, “not neccessarily the views of the station or its employees.” Basically they didn’t want to keep me from saying anything. And if you’ve ever heard me speak… you know I can be a bit acerbic.  I REALLY was impressed by that and give them props for their stance. I DIG that in a company that makes MY TOOLS.

Anyway, I hope to “see you” all there next Monday. “Bring a friend!!”

X2PPro 018 AE to PPro

Wow… learning things everyday but not enough time to share them all… I’ve been busy. This is how you bring AE compositions into PPro.
See my other tutorial on the CG Quirks.

Zoo Station - In a Little While

Friday October 8th 2010, Zoo Station played their 400th show. We were lucky enough to be able to be there with a few Canon 5DMK2’s and 7D’s. If you ever get a chance to see them… DO IT. This was shot by Chris Fenwick, Brad Seals, John King and Jason Alger. Dave Veach assisted on the audio capture.

I cut this in Premiere Pro CS5 using the multi-camera feature. I’m usually not a fan of Multi-cam when I’ve tried to use it in FCP but on this ‘outing’ I really enjoyed it a lot. I think I’m gonna have to do a tutorial on it. Every tutorial I’ve seen is always about how to set it up and do the initial cut. But the real tricks come up when you are editing and finessing the initial cut you did. Those are the things I want to cover.
