Zoo Station - In a Little While

Friday October 8th 2010, Zoo Station played their 400th show. We were lucky enough to be able to be there with a few Canon 5DMK2’s and 7D’s. If you ever get a chance to see them… DO IT. This was shot by Chris Fenwick, Brad Seals, John King and Jason Alger. Dave Veach assisted on the audio capture.

I cut this in Premiere Pro CS5 using the multi-camera feature. I’m usually not a fan of Multi-cam when I’ve tried to use it in FCP but on this ‘outing’ I really enjoyed it a lot. I think I’m gonna have to do a tutorial on it. Every tutorial I’ve seen is always about how to set it up and do the initial cut. But the real tricks come up when you are editing and finessing the initial cut you did. Those are the things I want to cover.

Ripcurl is brilliant.

Every penny they spent on doing this “bullet time shoot was totally worth it. I just learned that Ripcurl shorts are very high tech and well designed and I enjoyed every minute of it.

The Last Three Minutes.

“The Last 3 Minutes” Directed by Po Chan from Shane Hurlbut, ASC on Vimeo.

Spent the afternoon going thru the making of videos for The Last Three Minutes for some pieces I’m cutting for Shane and Lydia Hurlbut. Decided to sit back and watch it again. I had not realized that the “prism effect” was not done digitally. If you haven’t seen the piece… take the time. (Ironically, it takes a little longer than 3 minutes to watch.)

BMX at 1000 FPS

7D 1000 fps from Oton Bačar on Vimeo.

This makes no technological sense… but it looks cool. They shot this stuff at 60 FPS and then thru software emulated 1000 FPS… looks AMAZING. Very very cool.

O'Connor knows how to animate.

What a great promotion for this O’Connor matte box. Fun.
